Money Doesn't Bring You Happiness - You Do!

Celebrated Life and Business Strategist Tony Robbins comments, “There is no fixed level of achievement or success that will allow you to live the rest of your life on cruise control, comfortably and happily.  That’s because reaching a goal is satisfying, but only temporarily.”

Goals Create Temporary Happiness

Do you subscribe to the idea that I’ll be happy WHEN…..

  • I’m rich
  • I get a raise
  • I pay off my car/credit card/loan
  • I can afford a luxury vacation

And, the list goes on.

When happiness is determined based on one goal, more specifically, a financial goal, the finish line will never be crossed.  For example, when we get a raise, quickly, we realize the increase wasn’t big enough, or we didn’t get the title we wanted with the increase, or the bonus structure isn’t big enough.  Within hours, days, weeks, or months there will be another obstacle we need to overcome to achieve happiness.

Tony reminds us that, “No matter what you have achieved, the high doesn’t last, and the reason is that life is not about achieving the goals, life is about who you become in pursuit of those goals.”  The thinking needs to shift from I’ll be happy WHEN to I’m happy because I have everything I need TODAY, and I’m doing my best every day.
