Top 3 Ways to Create a Calm Home

Creating a calm space in your home will allow you to enjoy quiet moments of stillness and reflection over the next few months.

Here are three of my favorite ways to create peace in my space:

  1. De-clutter your Home and Mind

De-clutter to think and breathe easier. Take this time in self-isolation to remove clutter from your home office, bedroom, kitchen, or garage.  The process of tidying up is cleansing as it will leave you feeling accomplished and prepared for what is to come.  Think about the joy principal and only keep items that bring you joy. Need some help?  Review celebrated organizer Marie Kondo’s ideas.  Marie reminds us all to de-clutter with her words, “Tidy your space, transform your life.”

  1. Sunshine, Plants, and Greenery

Who doesn’t love the feeling of the sun on their face?  The warmth of sunshine and sights of nature calms the soul.  As we self-isolate, create a garden in your backyard with greenery, flowers, plants, and trees.  Use what you have on your property, or carefully order some greenery online to create a space that makes you smile.  When possible, support local businesses by purchasing flowers and plants – it will help local shops and boost your mood.  Enjoy your morning coffee listening to the birds chirping while taking in the sights of nature. In the evening, end your day by taking a walk in the forest or through the local parks while practicing social distancing.

  1. Diffuse Essential Oils

Essential Oils boost your mood, your immune system, and keep your home smelling beautiful.  If you have created a home office, the use of Essential Oils will enable you to enjoy a calm space where you can focus and get your work done.  Essential Oils allow you to create a unique combination of scents that speak to you.  Once you try a diffuser, you will fall in love!
